WHY WE EXIST

Good men, in the same room.

Mates started in 2023 as the Harry Hooper Ball, after one mate noticed too many of his mates weren't checking in with each other.

It became the Mates Ball in 2024 and the Mates Gala in 2026. Today it's a community: monthly Walk & Talks, brewery catch ups and the annual Gala, with every event raising funds for men's mental health and suicide prevention.

Most blokes are better than the noise. We give them a place to be heard and to back each other. Men-led, with women alongside us.

Canapes on arrival, a two course seated dinner, a six hour beer, wine and soft drink package, and live music all night with the Alter Boys and Omar Fikrat. Real stories from real mates, with mental health leading the conversation. Proceeds support Movember and men's mental health.
